Honing your personal style to reflect who you are, with Katherine Johnson.

Hey Maverick,

In Episode 112, I have a great conversation with Katherine Johnson. She is the founder of True Self,  an image consultancy that focuses on helping women look and feel like the leaders they are. Simply stated, they help you hone your personal style - from your wardrobe to your self-concept - so that you are presenting yourself to the world the way that you want to be seen.

They focus on leadership because often, in leadership positions, women feel like they "have to be a certain way" (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the point) instead of fully being in alignment with who they are.

This can be challenging, from corporate culture all the way to being a creative entrepreneur, and the expectations that people have about creatives. We talk about this in the episode, and Katherine shares a great example of an interior designer client who felt really boxed in before doing this work!

Katherine explains 3 ways that women often "hide in plain sight" and why your personal style has nothing to do with vanity and is totally worth cultivating. We also talk about how she grew up as a competitive athlete, and how that actually conditioned her to believe she needed to struggle in order to succeed. She has since decided that is not the case and tries to work with the motto "let it be easy."
